Late May Update

Back again, this time with some small incremental updates to WikiFic‘s main software (MediaWiki), along with several extensions. As far as I’ve been able to find, the site itself and all extensions are up-to-date, but I have seen a handful of error messages pop up in very select circumstances. If you happen to see any, please let me know as soon as possible!

I’ve also changed the form for signing up to create a new account, if you don’t have one already; in order to combat spam, it is required that would-be WikiFic editors write a minimum 50-word biography that will appear on their user profile page, but may also include additional information including favorite websites, their relationship with the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, and more. Any users signing up with usernames that already exist, usernames that are the same as or similar to character names from any of the series’ incarnations, or offensive, inappropriate, or “empty” biographies will be rejected. Users can always re-apply once they’ve familiarized themselves with the rules for account creation and editing at the site.

I’m always trying to go through the site to make the language more accessible and relevant for the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom and make the site as useful as possible for its intended audience: fanfiction readers and writers involved in some capacity with the various Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Of course, fans from the casual to the hardcore are also welcomed as editors and readers, as are players of the Original Card Game (OCG) or Collectible Card Game (CCG).

The Along the Way bug I mentioned in the Mid-May Update has been somewhat resolved; the Select Story chapter dropdown now only shows chapters with comic pages, so clicking on one of the listed chapters should take you to the first page of that chapter, but they’re still listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent/current chapter at the top (Chapter 7 as of this writing), rather than Chapter 1, as it should be. I may have gotten a clue as to why this is happening, and I hope to get it fixed soon.

Mid-November Update

An issue with the webcomic Along the Way missing pages or having pages in the incorrect order has been fixed. Upcoming updates for the comic include:

  • More comic pages (up to page 203 has been released on CleopatraWolf’s DeviantArt as of today)
  • Transcripts for the visually impaired for all comic pages
  • Adjustment on certain comic pages for yellowing, tilting, or shadowing as a result of scanning; sizing issues
  • New Characters page
  • New “On Location” page detailing the historical Greece and Egypt that inspired the original fanfiction and this webcomic
  • Special bonus pages, including “Fact vs. Fiction” on what you see in Along the Way vs. historical Egypt and Greece

Stay tuned for all this and more coming soon!

Early November Update

Work on the new Seventh-Star Network is underway! Here are some sites you can check out now, along with a few that are coming soon…

  • Along the Way – an Azureshipping (Téa x Seto) comic based off Flashchimp’s fanfiction of the same name, drawn by talented artist CleopatraWolf! I’ll be adding more pages to this phenomenal “doujinshi” comic soon, connecting it to my existing Blue Eyes and Apricots and Dragonfayth sites, which also revolve around the Azureshipping pairing. Also stay tuned for cool new content about the setting (Ancient Greece and Egypt)! Please let me know if you experience any issues with viewing the comic, whether it has to do with pages not displaying, incorrect ordering, or something else!
  • Chixflix – an educational blog written by myself and four other students from California State University – Northridge. We participated in an English/Pop Culture course taught by Professor Charles Hatfield about “chick flicks.” The site is no longer being updated, but it is preserved here with its original posts and comments for integrity.

Coming Soon as brand-new WordPress-powered sites in the Seventh-Star Network:

  • Darkness Rising – a Yu-Gi-Oh! fansite. The Ultimate Yu-Gi-Oh! Encyclopedia can still be found at WikiFic, as well as the aforementioned Blue Eyes and Apricots fanlisting and the Dragonfayth fanfiction archive.
  • Mare Serenitatis incorporating Viva Forever – a Sailor Moon fansite chock full of features, information, and more!
  • The Undiscovered Ocean – a Star Ocean fansite devoted to the anime (Star Ocean EX), manga, and of course, the original video games, spanning from the first SNES Star Ocean (a.k.a. Star Ocean: First Departure on the PSP) to the latest entrant in the series, Star Ocean: The Last Hope for PS3 and XBox 360!
  • Maboroshi Tsuki – An Escaflowne fansite, devoted to the televised anime series.
  • Seven South – A Fushigi Yuugi/Mysterious Play fansite, including the prequel manga, Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden.
  • Red Tagged – A Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers fansite, with special emphasis on the original manga and the Japanese drama series.
  • Toki wo Koete – An Inuyasha fansite, with information on the anime and manga, web graphics and other fan creations!
  • Skin Deep – A Peach Girl fansite with particular emphasis on the original manga, but also includes the spinoff Sae’s Story (Reverse Side), as well as the various TV dramas and the anime based off the original comic!
  • Elemental Obsession – A Shinshirayuki Hime Densetsu Pretear (Legend of the Snow White Princess Pretear) site, with focus on the anime.
  • Full of Memories  – A Ranma 1/2 fansite, including features, fan creations, and more for both the anime and the manga.
  • Silhouette – A Saint Tail fansite, with special attention paid to the original manga series.
  • Unusual Actors Town – A Wild Act fansite devoted to this hilarious and dramatic manga series!

As mentioned in the last post, there will be a few websites I’m working on or will add that, at this time, aren’t WordPress sites; those will come later. There are also existing websites that don’t run off of WordPress, such as Derailed, and any of the existing fanlistings (find out about them all on my collective, Azurelist).
