Back again, this time with some small incremental updates to WikiFic‘s main software (MediaWiki), along with several extensions. As far as I’ve been able to find, the site itself and all extensions are up-to-date, but I have seen a handful of error messages pop up in very select circumstances. If you happen to see any, please let me know as soon as possible!
I’ve also changed the form for signing up to create a new account, if you don’t have one already; in order to combat spam, it is required that would-be WikiFic editors write a minimum 50-word biography that will appear on their user profile page, but may also include additional information including favorite websites, their relationship with the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, and more. Any users signing up with usernames that already exist, usernames that are the same as or similar to character names from any of the series’ incarnations, or offensive, inappropriate, or “empty” biographies will be rejected. Users can always re-apply once they’ve familiarized themselves with the rules for account creation and editing at the site.
I’m always trying to go through the site to make the language more accessible and relevant for the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom and make the site as useful as possible for its intended audience: fanfiction readers and writers involved in some capacity with the various Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Of course, fans from the casual to the hardcore are also welcomed as editors and readers, as are players of the Original Card Game (OCG) or Collectible Card Game (CCG).
The Along the Way bug I mentioned in the Mid-May Update has been somewhat resolved; the Select Story chapter dropdown now only shows chapters with comic pages, so clicking on one of the listed chapters should take you to the first page of that chapter, but they’re still listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent/current chapter at the top (Chapter 7 as of this writing), rather than Chapter 1, as it should be. I may have gotten a clue as to why this is happening, and I hope to get it fixed soon.
