Cyndia
From WikiFic
Cyndia, also called Cynthia or, in the English dub, Cecilia Pegasus, was the fiancé or wife of Pegasus J. Crawford, depending on the continuity. She died several years prior to the series and is Pegasus's motivation during Duelist Kingdom, as he wished to resurrect her (the details of his plan were not entirely clear, but they apparently involved magic and KaibaCorp's holographic technologies, according to several sources.) Not much is known about Cyndia's personality, although when asked by a fan Kazuki Takahashi described Pegasus's "ideal woman" as "well-mannered" and "refined."
History
Cyndia and Pegasus are known to have met as young children, and as they grew together Pegasus used her as a muse for his painting, doing numerous portraits of her (several of which are seen around his castle.) When she fell suddenly ill and died, Pegasus lost his inspiration, and traveled around the world in search of a way to bring Cyndia back to life. His travels led him to Egypt, where he met Shaadii, who bestowed on him the Millennium Eye. The first vision that he saw with the Millennium Eye was that of Cyndia returning to him, though the vision only lasted for an instant. Cyndia and Pegasus were both about seventeen when she died, which means that seven years passed between her death and the series.
Names
"Cyndia" is a corruption of "Cynthia" brought about by trying to write European names with Japanese kanji. Cynthia itself is a Greek name, meaning "moon." "Cecilia," her dub name, means "blind."
